In 2021, Louise and Jean-Jacques purchased her childhood home from her parents. While renovating the 3,056 sq. ft. Victorian home built in the 1880s, they decided to electrify, removing the natural gas heating system and installing radiant heating from the floor – as well as adding ducted air conditioning – all powered by two outdoor condensers. The home was fully insulated with blown-in foam in the walls and attic, and the addition of insulated windows and doors. They also added high efficiency electric appliances including a heat-pump hot water heater, a heat-pump clothes dryer and an induction stove. The house no longer uses fossil fuel heating sources.
