Sustainability Fair 2018 EV Test Drives & More
10:00 am - 2:00 pm, MASS DRIVE CLEAN Vehicle Ride and Drive (Rear Courtyard):
Curious about what it's like to actually drive a plug-in electric vehicle (PEV)? Sustainable Marblehead, in partnership with MASS DRIVE CLEAN, is proud to host this free PEV Ride and Drive showcase.
You will have the opportunity to see first-hand a variety of vehicles from BMW, Chevrolet, Nissan, Tesla (and possibly other brands), as well as electric bicycles from Salem Cycles. Licensed Drivers can take these cars out for a spin. Everyone else is welcome to go for a ride in one, or to try out an electric bike. Information on Federal subsidy programs for these vehicles will be available.
Bring your Driver's License, and be prepared to be wowed by these wonderful cars. We will have at least 3 manufacturers represented, with dealers and owners available to answer all of your questions.
A test drive may convince you that every home should have at least one of these vehicles for daily commutes and errands. Not only will you save a lot of money in fuel and maintenance expenses, but you will also have the satisfaction of contributing to an immediate, significant reduction in greenhouse gases. To whet your appetite, check out massenergy.org/drivegreen/incentives for vehicle comparisons and incentives, which are still substantial. Representatives of MMLD will be on hand to describe how easy and affordable it is to install a charger for your home. For Rebate Info, go to: www.mor-ev.org/MassDriveClean
Wait, There's More!
The Marblehead Municipal Light Department (MMLD) wants to accelerate clean transportation alternatives in Massachusetts while effectively managing their distribution system. So they are partnering with the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) to make an incredible offer. They will provide, for free*, for a limited time, WiFi-equipped Level 2 residential electric vehicle chargers to customers signing on to the Scheduled Charging Program. This program not only promotes incentives on the newest models of EVs on the road today, but gives residents the ability to harness scheduled “smart” charging at the touch of a smartphone. This will help the MMLD keep distribution costs down by reducing stress on the grid from peak demand. The MMWEC will not only offer stationary exhibits at this event, but working with Kelly Nissan, Quirk Chevy, and Tesla, they will make available a Leaf, Bolt, and Tesla X for Marblehead residents to test drive (or just gaze longingly at). Email EV@mmwec.org , or call 413-589-1585 today for more information!
*Applies to all BEVs; PHEVs are eligible for charger incentives based on battery capacity.
